The Control and Automation Department are seeking a skilled Control and Automation Technician to enhance the efficiency, safety, and security of our operations, with a focus on process control, operational technology (OT), SCADA/DCS, CCTV, and access control systems.

The Role
As a Control and Automation Technician, you will design, implement, and maintain advanced automated control systems for critical island infrastructure. You will also oversee the integration and performance of operational technology (OT), CCTV infrastructure, and access control systems to ensure seamless, secure, and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Consider the nature of changes required to computer software programmes and control systems.
- Ensure that modifications/changes applied do not have unwanted side effects, by thoroughly considering all implications of the anticipated change.
- Consider the nature of the plant/facility involved, ensuring the maintenance of safeguards to avoid potentially unsafe situations, or damaging system failures causing such as pollution events.
- Be responsible for reporting back on faults diagnosed by the role-holder, the work they have undertaken, the time spent in these activities, the parts used, and the role-holder’s analysis/determination as to future work required and reporting upon the condition of the equipment.
- Once objectives have been agreed by more senior personnel, the role-holder is responsible for carrying out the repair or modification as required. Having the lead technical knowledge in relation to the system, the role-holder has freedom to decide how best to deliver the objectives that have been defined by an appropriate manager.
- The role-holder is offered the opportunity to cover an out of hours on-call roster in relation to breakdowns.
- The role holder is also expected to modify/update & off on AutoCAD electrical schematics.
What We Are Looking For
Electrical Level 3 City and Guilds or a recognised equivalent qualification.
Proven experience in control systems engineering, with knowledge of liquid waste management, water treatment, or similar industries.
Proficiency with Process Control Systems, SCADA systems, HMI interfaces, and industrial communication protocols.
Familiarity with operational technology (OT) networks, cybersecurity, and integration best practices.
Experience with CCTV system setup, integration, and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of access control systems, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to dynamic operational challenges.
Knowledge of regulatory standards for environmental compliance, industrial automation, and security systems.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
