Job Overview

Here at Le Rocquier School, we are looking to expand our team of dedicated Examination Invigilators to assist in the supervision of students sitting both internal and external examinations throughout the academic year.  Our invigilators are also required to fulfil a vital role by ensuring that all examinations are conducted in accordance with the JCQ (Joint Council for Qualifications) Regulations.

This is a flexible, zero hours position with examinations taking place either in the mornings, afternoons or both. No previous experience is necessary as full training will be given as required by the exam regulations.

Job Purpose

  • To support and assist the Exams Officer and Invigilation team in the smooth running of all examinations and controlled assessments whilst continuously upholding the integrity of the exam processes in accordance with JCQ (Joint Council for Qualifications) Regulations and Le Rocquier school policies.
  • To ensure that all candidates have an equal opportunity to demonstrate their abilities.
  • To ensure the confidentiality, integrity and security of examinations.
  • To prevent possible candidate malpractice.
  • To prevent possible staff maladministration.

To support the Exams Officer and Invigilation team with the day-to-day examination process.  This includes but is not restricted to:

  • Assisting with setting-up examination rooms by laying out stationery, equipment and examination papers in accordance with strict procedures.
  • Ensuring the security of the examination materials before, during and after the examination in accordance with regulations
  • Ensuring that all candidates adhere to the regulations once inside examination rooms.
  • Recording details of late arrivals. 
  • Accurately noting any incidents which may occur during the examination.
  • Escorting and supervising candidates whilst outside examination rooms as required.
  • Ensuring candidates leave in an orderly and quiet manner at the end of the examination.
  • Ensuring that no equipment or stationery is removed from the examination room.
  • Collecting and collating scripts at the end of the examination in accordance with strict procedures.

 

Qualifications

  • A good standard of education to GCSE standard or equivalent.

Knowledge

  • The ability to acquire, assimilate and gain a solid working knowledge of the rules and regulations of JCQ and Exam Boards. 

General skills / attributes

 

  • Good punctuality and demonstrates good organisation skills.
  • Use of initiative
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills with staff and students.
  • An understanding of examination processes desirable, but not essential as full training will be given.
  • Effective oral/written communication skills essential and the ability to provide detailed and accurate instructions and guidance to candidates.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail with an ability to work to predetermined instructions.

Experience

  • Experience of working or studying in higher education environment desirable, but not necessary.
  • Proven experience of working effectively as part of a team and also independently within set guidelines.
