Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Children and Families Hub Service in a new role as Family Programmes and Participation Lead.

The Children and Families Hub spans across three teams, each with a focus on supporting families to develop their capacity, resilience and independence by building on their strengths and enabling them to find their own solutions. The role of the Family Programmes and Participation Lead will sit within the Front Door Team and work alongside the Team Manager to co-ordinate, plan, develop and deliver the courses for parents and carers across the service and partner agencies.

 

Another key element of this post will be to support the development of service wide participation and engagement projects, as the service works to build it's participation and engagement agenda, ensuring that we seek, explore, listen to and value the views of children and families, whilst creating mechanisms to apply this learning to service improvement and development.

Job Purpose

Ensure that parenting programmes are delivered to model fidelity and high quality is maintained across the parenting portfolio. To coordinate, plan, deliver and develop a range of evidence-based parenting programmes in a group and on an individual basis to families accessing the Children & Families Hub.

 

Promote the voice of Children & Families across the Children & Families Hub Service.

 

Develop and deliver participation and engagement projects, to include evaluating children, young people and families’ experiences of engaging with the Children & Families Hub Service

1. Take a lead role to plan, develop, organise, and deliver a range of specialist evidence-based parenting programmes to meet the current identified need of families referred. To work flexibly as part of the Childrens & Families Hub Service team to deliver parenting programmes across the island, including evening work as determined by the needs of the service.

 

2. To create and be part of a digital offer, ensuring that evidence-based parenting strategies are accessible and inclusive to all families across the continuum of need and can be accessed on a 24/7 basis.

 

3. Contribute to wider Children’s & Families Hub data and continuous service development and improvement. Identify gaps in service provision and provide feedback to Childrens & Families Hub Leadership team to inform appropriate service commissioning.

 

4. Use routine outcome measures to collate, assess and review data relating to parental wellbeing and child behaviour through the use of evidence-based strategies to measure change, evidence outcomes and identify next steps to inform closure and/or contingency plans. Use information gathering to scope out future programmes and support with removing barriers for families accessing the service.

 

5. Act as a champion for Parenting Programmes provided by the service, embedding these across the Children & Families Hub through supporting training, workshops, case consultations and reflective practice via individual, peer and group supervision and equipping team members with a wide range of knowledge and resources.

6. Identify safeguarding concerns and take appropriate action to ensure the child/young person/vulnerable adult is safe and protected.

 

7. Maintain up to date records that ensure the service provided is both transparent and accountable, in line with legal requirements and departmental procedures and processes.

 

8. Support the development of communication channels for children and families accessing the Children and Families Hub to capture feedback and attract public engagement. The post holder will be a highly visible, service user focused team member who will seek the views of children and families accessing the Children and Families Hub, to capture feedback on service experience and suggestions to further develop the service.

 

9. Foster good working relationships with other participation and engagement partner groups, to ensure that the voices are heard from some of the more vulnerable and minority groups across the island, including those from the BAME population, where English may not their first language.

 

10. Act as a point of expertise in relation to matters concerning participation and engagement across the Children and Families Hub Service to ensure that child, family experience and voice drives policy, practice and service development.

 

11. Take a lead role in developing and driving the Participation agenda across the service, including gathering relevant data that will support wider service user engagement in all areas of service delivery.

Qualifications

A recognised qualification at level 4 Foundation Degree Year 1 (or equivalent), for working with children and families in a relevant field, such as physical or mental health, social care, youth work, education, criminal justice, child development or early years. OR significant relevant experience coupled with the ability and willingness to undertake a level 4 qualification Certified training in a parenting support / working with parents programme (e.g. ‘Triple P’ / ‘Strengthening Families’ or similar)

Knowledge

Understanding of local child protection policies and procedures and the importance of safeguarding children and young people Knowledge of local support services available for families Knowledge of a range of evidence based approaches and intervention tools Knowledge of child development and its influence on parent/child relationships across the age range 0-19 years Knowledge of group facilitation skills and how to use them Knowledge of Participation Standards Building and leading a culture of participation

Technical Work Based Skills

Able to keep excellent records of work Effective use of ICT. This would include working knowledge of Word, Outlook, Power-Point and a variety of databases

General skills / attributes

Positive and strengths based perspective The ability to engage and motivate resistant or ‘hard to reach’ families. This includes the ability to create and maintain positive relationships and professional boundaries Able to work as part of a team, sharing expertise and skills as a resource for colleagues Able to work flexibly. This could include some evening and weekend working (as required)
