Job Overview
We have an opportunity within Mental Health Services, for a motivated and enthusiastic person to join our multidisciplinary team as a Health Care Assistant. We provide care on an acute functional mental health assessment ward. As part of our team you will contribute and participate in care delivery for specified individual patients or patient groups, planning and organising a range of patient activities taking into account physical and social needs of the patients. You will be supporting the patients with their activities of daily living in accordance with the individual’s care plan and the standards of care for the clinical area. You will be working under the guidance of trained staff within the area.

Job Purpose
- To promote health and independence by supporting patients/clients with activities of daily living in order to meet planned care goals.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES - Contributes to Resource Management
- The post holder will demonstrate cost consciousness and contribute to controlling expenditure within the clinical area. The post holder will demonstrate basic key board skills and will carry out all designated administrative tasks effectively.
Budgetary Responsibility
Staff working at this level may work under the general direction of trained staff and may have immediate access to advice and guidance from trained staff within the area.
Training and Development
- The post holder will seek opportunities to develop knowledge and skills and will participate constructively in the Performance Review and Appraisal process.
Contributes to Environmental Management
- The post holder will contribute to the management of the immediate physical environment which will involve understanding and promoting all health, safety and security measures in hospital and home settings.
- The post holder will carry out designated housekeeping tasks effectively.
Person specification
- Experience in health care setting
- Excellent communication and team working skills
- Basic keyboard skills desirable
- In possession of or commitment to work towards a level 2 vocational award in health and social care
