The Board is responsible for monitoring the treatment and welfare of prisoners and also monitoring the state of the premises at HMP La Moye. Members of the Board will make frequent visits to the prison to check the conditions and treatment of prisoners to ensure that their human rights are being observed and upheld.
This role is very rewarding for anyone who is looking for an opportunity to work within our community and give back some of their time. Individuals from diverse backgrounds and communities, and with varied lived experience are encouraged to apply.
The Board meets physically each month at the prison, in addition to a Board member (or members) visiting the prison at least once per month for monitoring visits and/or prisoner application duties. The time commitment is approximately 10 hours per month and therefore applicants must be able to meet these requirements.
There will be an interview process and full police vetting of applicants will be undertaken.
