Job Overview
University College Jersey is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Social Work practitioner to join the team delivering the BA (Hons) Social Work (Jersey) degree as a visiting lecturer. Applications are welcomed from candidates with recent experience of higher education and who are currently working as a Social Worker in Jersey. Job Purpose
Responsible for managing the learning process including classroom teaching, tutorials, e-learning programmes, involvement in the internal moderation process, observations, report writing and assessment of students within placement/ work based learning
Job Specific Outcomes
1. Identify learning needs of individuals to implement planning for group delivery, plan and deliver lectures, seminars and tutorials to enable students to achieve assessments and
examination requirements.
2. Assist in curriculum development, the planning, delivery, assessment and evaluation of courses.
3. Review course materials, seek feedback from learners and provide structured feed forward.
4. Contribute to team/department meetings including review of the programme and assessment. Assist in ensuring the quality of the curriculum provision to meet internal and external standards through management of course meetings and contributing to course planning and review.
5. Contribute to the development of external contacts with industry and professional networking to enhance the relevance of the programme.
6. Participate in professional development and appropriate in-service training.
7. Assist in ensuring the college environment meets health and safety and security requirements.
8. Recognise the personal welfare needs of students, and initiate appropriate referrals. Monitor and develop the standards of students’ behaviour in order to provide additional support where a student is not completing a study programme as planned.
9. Identify course requirements and use resources allocated in order to create environment(s) conducive to the learning of individuals and groups.
10. Any other duties required by the senior team for the successful achievement of the job purpose.
Qualifications
Educated to honours degree level
Professional Social Work qualification
Registered Social Worker
Track record of regular continuous professional development
Relevant recent experience in Higher Education
Knowledge
Knowledge and understanding of contemporary developments in social work, and in social work education
Technical Work Based Skills
Skills in communicating about sensitive topics with vulnerable people
General skills / attributes
Good communication skills with individuals and groups

Experience of social work with adults, children and families
