Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join Jersey’s largest primary school.
In this pivotal and demanding role, you will assist in managing financial planning, budgeting, and resources, ensuring smooth daily operations. You will work closely with the leadership team to provide strategic guidance and support on Government of Jersey HR, facilities, and health & safety functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in administration, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of managing finances and people and physical resources effectively, ideally within Government.

Job Purpose
To manage and coordinate all processes required to support the core business function, both internal and external, of d’Auvergne School. This includes the support of learning, in line with the school’s values, aims and the needs of the School Improvement Plan.
To manage all processes which support the smooth running of the school, including recruitment, data protection, freedom of information systems, community bookings and all media and publicity requirements which support the needs of the school.
To manage and oversee all communication systems between the school and its stakeholders, including with business and community partnerships.

Person specification
This post requires a dedicated professional capable of managing the business element of an ambitious 3-11 school. The postholder will provide leadership as well as management of the key areas of educational operations, systems, and support services in the school. The outcome will be a highly efficient and effective business operation, which enhances the learning environment of the students, and positively promotes the role of the school in the community. The post will offer a friendly and supportive communication hub for staff, parents and the local Community and build effective partnerships with other schools, professionals, and businesses with enriched opportunities for learners in the longer term.
Qualifications
Educated to degree level, or the equivalent; or a qualification in a management-related discipline
Qualification in project or change management disciplines is desirable
Knowledge
- A knowledge of financial planning and an ability to set and maintain a budget successfully.
- Ability to think strategically, review and monitor systems and provide best value for money, as well as high quality outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to manage change in an effective and non-threatening way.
- Competent in Microsoft Office 365 (word, outlook, excel, Teams, Sharepoint, etc.)
- To be well organised, flexible in mind and proactive with ‘a can do’ attitude.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety and safe measures required for activities and operations.
Experience
- Experience of working within an organisation with a large and varied client base and the ability to feel comfortable when dealing with a diverse mix of groups and individuals.
- Experience of leading and inspiring confidence in a team.
- At least 5 years professional experience in a management role, including ability to efficiently delegate.
- To be completely familiar with the Microsoft Office suite of programs and to be able to work with JDEdwards and Hubble.
- Experience in writing and reviewing Risk Assessments, Policies and Procedures.

Working Procedures and Scope
The post holder will assume responsibility for day-to-day business, operational activities onsite, HR functions and calendar events to enable the Head teacher to concentrate on strategic leadership, planning and implementation.
Be an active participant and member of the school’s ‘Critical Incident Response Team’.
Carry out all other duties that may be reasonably delegated by the Head teacher.
